Field trips to our farm provide a day of “agritainment” with hands-on experiences. Our trips are linked to the PA Academic Standards of Environment and Ecology, Science, Mathematics, Reading and Listening, and Family and Consumer Science. The children learn about life on the farm, planting and harvesting crops and the importance of agriculture in their daily lives. Mrs. B (the farmer’s wife) is a former elementary school teacher and she conducts our field trips along with a staff of 5 trained field trip guides. The children visit Mrs. B’s School Barn and interact with her while she teaches them that “almost everything starts on a farm.” Teachers and students take home many great memories.
Spring tours are offered in May
Geared to Kindergarten through third grade, students learn about growing and harvesting strawberries and vegetables, bees and pollination, and the importance of good soils. All participants take home a strawberry plant to plant and watch it grow. The students also have time to enjoy what they call the “fun stuff” such as a hayride, sliding down our tube slides and visiting with our farm animals.
Fall tours are offered in October
The children visit our famous Pumpkinland, take a hayride, pick a “kid-size” pumpkin from the patch, play on our playground, and visit the farm animals. School-age children are also offered a hayride through the apple orchard, and will learn about planting and growing apples and pumpkins, bees and pollination and good farming practices.
Tours are offered in May and October by appointment only.
